Planned Giving
Charitable and Estate & Gift Planning Services
Thank you for taking the time to explore the benefits of gift planning. Our hope is to serve you and your family with helpful information. We have an increasing number of projects and programs at the Montana History Foundation that are now benefiting from life income gifts including gift annuities and charitable trusts.
There are many types of plans that can benefit you and history projects in Montana.
Charitable Bequest-A charitable bequest is the simplest planned gift. By naming the Montana History Foundation in your will or trust, you potentially benefit from tax advantages and provide a lasting legacy.
Charitable Gift Annuity-Gift annuities help you fund a steady stream of income to yourself as well as benefit the Montana History Foundation. A gift annuity is an agreement between you and the Montana History Foundation that provides a guaranteed income for the donor in exchange for cash or property.
Charitable Trust-Many people own appreciated assets and face the dilemma of paying a high tax when they sell the asset. Charitable trusts can accept the transfer of an asset, invest the proceeds from the sale of the asset, and use the income and appreciation to insure lifetime income for the donor.
Retirement Plan Assets-You may have a significant portion of your estate invested in IRAs, 401Ks, TSAs or other retirement plans. These assets offer great tax advantages when donated to charitable, nonprofit organizations like the Montana History Foundation.
Gifts of Life Insurance-You may convert a moderate monthly premium into a major gift by transferring ownership and beneficiary designation of your life insurance policy to the Montana History Foundation.
